Libyan glasses are natural glasses with high SiO2´ content, which are found in the so-called Great Sand Sea, located in the southwestern part of Egypt near the border with Libya. They are found among sand dunes over an area of about 2000 to 6500 km2. They are of impact origin and are therefore due to a meteorite impact.
The Libyan glass is accompanied by information on the origin of the tektite.
